Steerable Sheath Component Redesign

WHAT

Redesign of an injection-molded component due to an issue discovered late in the development of a next-generation steerable sheath.

WHY

On paper, the problem came down to a single plastic component. In reality, that small component had a larger impact on the performance and safety of the entire system, making the challenge not just finding a design solution that worked, but finding the right one - balancing performance, reliability, manufacturability, and verification while thoughtfully managing the downstream impact on tooling, cost, and the program schedule.

MY IMPACT

I helped identify and build the technical case for the design change. From there, I scoped design solutions, led testing, and presented the evidence and recommendation to stakeholders. Once the solution was selected, I worked directly with our injection-molding supplier to turn the final design into a manufacturable tooling change.
